Belief propagation, robust reconstruction and optimal recovery of block models

چکیده
We consider the problem of reconstructing sparse symmetric block models with two blocks and connection probabilities a/n and b/n for interand intra-block edge probabilities respectively. It was recently shown that one can do better than a random guess if and only if (a − b) > 2(a + b). Using a variant of Belief Propagation, we give a reconstruction algorithm that is optimal in the sense that if (a − b) > C(a + b) for some constant C then our algorithm maximizes the fraction of the nodes labelled correctly. Along the way we prove some results of independent interest regarding robust reconstruction for the Ising model on regular and Poisson trees.

Optimal Quantization for Sparse Reconstruction with Relaxed Belief Propagation
Compressive sensing theory has demonstrated that sparse signals can be recovered from a small number of random linear measurements. However, for practical purposes, like storage, transmission, or processing with modern digital equipment, continuous-valued compressive sensing measurements need to be quantized. In this thesis we examine the topic of optimal quantization of compressive sensing mea...
متن کاملDensity Evolution in the Degree-correlated Stochastic Block Model
There is a recent surge of interest in identifying the sharp recovery thresholds for clusterrecovery under the stochastic block model. In this paper, we address the more refined questionof how many vertices that will be misclassified on average. We consider the binary form of thestochastic block model, where n vertices are partitioned into two clusters with edge probabilitya...
متن کاملDesign of robust carrier tracking systems in high dynamic and high noise conditions, with emphasis on neuro-fuzzy controller
The robust carrier tracking is defined as the ability of a receiver to determine the phase and frequency of the input carrier signal in unusual conditions such as signal loss, input signal fading, high receiver dynamic, or other destructive effects of propagation. An implementation of tight tracking can be understood in terms of adopting a very narrow loop bandwidth that contradict with the req...
متن کاملBelief Propagation Reconstruction for Discrete Tomography
We consider the reconstruction of a two-dimensional discrete image from a set of tomographic measurements corresponding to the Radon projection. Assuming that the image has a structure where neighbouring pixels have a larger probability to take the same value, we follow a Bayesian approach and introduce a fast messagepassing reconstruction algorithm based on belief propagation. For numerical re...
متن کاملBelief Propagation for Depth Cue Fusion in Minimally Invasive Surgery
In minimally invasive surgery, dense 3D surface reconstruction is important for surgical navigation and integrating pre- and intra-operative data. Despite recent developments in 3D tissue deformation techniques, their general applicability is limited by specific constraints and underlying assumptions. The need for accurate and robust tissue deformation recovery has motivated research into fusin...
